Nov 7, 2016 Meeting: 6:30 PM Officer Elections and Cooking Demonstration

Officer elections will be held during the November 7, 2016 meeting. Following the elections, the group will be treated to a cooking demonstration by Marguerite Grifka, chef and owner of California’s Table.
The meeting will be hosted in Room 101, Casa Del Prado in Balboa Park at 6:30 PM. There will NOT be a dinner before the meeting.

CHEF MARGUERITE GRIFKA was raised in San Diego County. She established her cooking career after a move to New Orleans. Working in the heart of one of America’s most iconic regional cuisines was a revelation for her. She attended Delgado Community College’s culinary program, and found the path that would shape her professional life. Always a good eater, Marguerite was an avid home cook, exploring creativity in the kitchen from childhood. Thriving in San Diego’s vibrant culinary melting pot, she delights in utilizing the high quality local products of this region offers, and in sampling the array of international tastes this diverse community offers. Marguerite has concentrated her career in independently owned, progressive restaurants. She was excited to open California’s Table – take-out, at 3620 30th street, early in Spring 2016. California’s Table offers ready to eat foods that focus on vegetables and organic ingredients. California’s Table also provides a catering service that focuses on fresh offerings prepared weekly for those too busy to cook at home. Designed to be ready-to-eat, weekly menus are available for pick up or delivery and range from healthy salads to rich risottos. She also enjoys passing on cooking techniques to elementary school kids and adults through volunteering as guest instructor at Olivewood Gardens’ kitchen.

Board Officer Positions and Responsibilities:
The board is responsible for scheduling speakers and the Fungus fair.
**President: responsible for presiding over the monthly meetings, heading the monthly board meetings, submitting the room reservations, usually attends the SDBGF meetings to represent the club.
**Vice President: assists President and performs presidential obligations when president is indisposed.
**Secretary: take notes at board meetings and distributes information to the group.
**Treasurer: handles membership dues, handles accounting (speaker payments, dinner payments, expense reimbursements, etc.), pays club taxes from fair sales.
**Board Member at Large: non-officer who has responsibility of voting at board meetings and assisting with scheduling of speakers.

Non Board Positions:
**SDBGF Representative: attends the SDBGF meetings and represents the club at the meeting. Participant is usually the president or a board member, but can be anyone affiliated with the club.
**Website Manager: posts club announcements on website.
**News Editor: sends emails about club events and meetings as well as other fun fungus facts and information
**Social Media Manager: posts club announcements on social media outlets.
**Audio/Visual Manager: sets up projector and audio equipment for club meetings and the fungus fair
**Public Relations Manager: manages advertising of the fungus fair (most advertising occurs in November for the February event).
**Foray Manager: organizes club forays (including obtaining foray waivers).
